Lawrence Larry died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday evening, January 3, 2011. Larry was a devout believer in the Lord, and is home with Him now. We rejoice in his life, and his influence on so many people.

Larry was born on July 9, 1915 in Oakfield, Wisconsin to Reverend Doctor Lawrence Zarrilli and Jennie Allnutt Zarrilli. He was the second of three children, brother Reuben and sister Mary Ann. Shortly after Larry's birth, the family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where Larry attended public school while his father taught at Baptist Bible Institute. Larry graduated from high school at the age of 15 and entered Tulane University, graduating in 1935, Phi Beta Kappa.

He began his career at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in Cincinnati, living at that time with the Allnutt family in Kentucky.

Larry met and married Mozie Lusk in 1938. Larry and Mozie had two sons, Lawrence Lee Jr. and Phillip Barry. Larry Jr. is a resident of Green and Phillip lives in Wales, Great Britain.

Larry served in World War II as a navigator in the U.S. Navy, in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He returned home in 1946 and the young family transferred to Akron, Ohio in 1950 where he resumed his 43-year career with Firestone, primarily as a sales manager in the Home and Auto Supply Department.

In 1979, Larry retired from Firestone to care for Mozie who died in 1988. Larry married Rosemary Wright on March 3, 1990.

Larry enjoyed playing bridge with the duplicate West Side Bridge Club at St. Paul's Episcopal Church; was an enthusiastic gardener, tending his rose bushes with the painstaking care required to produce beautiful, healthy roses. In 2004, he received an award from Keep Akron Beautiful commending him on his magnificent yard and garden. Larry was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 349. On September 18, 2010 he was flown by Honor Flight CAK to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.

In 2005, the family celebrated Larry's 90th birthday with many friends and family members in attendance. He received a commendation from Summit County Council, outlining his community service, including volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and serving as a deacon and elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He taught adult and youth Bible classes, and was considered a true Biblical scholar. He studied the Bible until the last year of his life, especially enjoying the classes at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He and Rosemary attended First Presbyterian Church during the past several years.

Larry enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to Israel and the Middle East with Reverend Donald Cole of the Moody Bible Institute. He was a consistent supporter of Pastor Cole's work in Angola, Africa. He and Rosemary attended the Keswick Bible Institute for several years, and visited many historical sites in the U.S.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Mozie; brother, Reuben, who practiced medicine in Barberton, Ohio; sister, Mary Ann, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 23; and Rosemary's son, Douglas.
