Leah Kay Weissert, 64, died suddenly April 21, 2009.
She was born on December 28, 1944 in Geneva, Nebraska. While attending OSU in 1963, Leah met Jamie. They were instantly smitten and married one year later on September 19, 1964.
Preceded in death by her father and brother; she is survived by her loving husband, Jamie; son, Jeff; daughter, Lisa; mother, Jean Johnson; and many, many close friends.
Her life was full and exciting. While attending OSU she worked at a local pharmacy filling prescriptions, office work at OSU, and part time at an Orthopedic Surgeons office here in Akron while juggling home duties for Jamie, Jeff and Lisa. In later years she was involved in many volunteer organizations in the Revere school district. Change was always happening as Jamie's job moved him to Luxembourg and more recently to Australia. Her latest work was with Mental Health American where every year she helped her friend Sandy with the Teddy Bear Patrol Fundraiser which provides Teddy Bears for police and firemen to give to children involved in stressful situations. In the years her circle of friends grew while nourishing their long time friendships.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with V. Rev. Fr. James Wright officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Park. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
