Leonard P. Hayden, 84, died August 13, 2012.
Born February 23, 1928 in Dorathy, PA to the late Leonard T. and Mary Walchko Hayden, he had resided in Willard, Ohio prior to moving to Akron. Leonard served in the US Army, 11th Airborne Division, Occupation of Japan, during WW II. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 1714 in Lordstown, St. Francis Church and the 55 Plus Club in Willard, the Highland Square West Akron Senior Club and St. Sebastian Church. He retired in 1990 from General Motors where he was a Tool and Die maker.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Hayden; he is survived by Agnes (Sue), his loving wife of 35 years; son, Gregory (Maryann) Hayden; daughters, Cynthia Holden and Daryl (Joe) Major; step-daughter, Karen Sarvis; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Nancy) Hayden; sisters, Anna Dean and Kitty (Robert) Atkinson.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. FRIDAY at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave., Akron 44320. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield with military honors conducted by the Copley Veteran's Post and the US Army. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. THURSDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N.
