Liselotte Maria Dockery, 81, passed away Saturday, February 13th after a long protracted illness.
She was born Liselotte Steeg, of Heidelburg, Germany on May 20, 1928. During her lifetime she experienced major pieces of history from watching the Hindenburg fly overhead to surviving World War II Germany.
She met her husband, Frank R. Dockery, in Heidelburg, where he was working with U.S. Occupation forces. She emigrated to the U.S. in the early 50's and received her naturalization certificate. A long time resident of Traverse City, Michigan, she spent her last years in Akron, Ohio. While raising her two children, Liselotte received her degree and teaching certificate from Wayne State University in Detroit. She later worked as a substitute teacher for the Detroit School System.
Preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Frank R. Dockery and her son, Michael Dockery, as well as her brother, Karl- Heinz Steeg, and sister, Lena Mattukatt. She is survived by her son, Kevin D. Dockery; daughter, Patricia M. Rose; grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda; her first great-grandchild, "baby" Rose is due later in February of this year.
A memorial service will be held for Liselotte on or about her birthday on May 20 at the Elks Club of Traverse City, Michigan. She will be interred with her husband Frank at the Oakwood Cemetery.
