Lois Yarborough Battles

Lois Yarborough Battles passed away on January 3, 2022, at the age of 91, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Canton, Ohio, on October 13, 1930, to James M. and Gladys E. Reed.   Lois was a long-time resident of Cuyahoga Falls and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and as a Deacon.  She was active in Presbyterian Women and in Church Women United of Cuyahoga Falls Area, serving as president for two years, and was retired from First Energy.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, brother James R. Reed, and husband Ralph W. Battles.  She was also preceded by stepson Mark Battles and stepdaughter Rebecca Bodden.  She is survived by daughters Susan (John) Fassoles and Janice Voigt, both of Akron; son James (Ricky) Yarborough of Franklin, Virginia; and grandson Casey Voigt and great-granddaughter Emma Voigt, both of Florida.  She also leaves her family by marriage including stepdaughters Nancy (Ron) Capotosta of Wadsworth and Donna (Tod) Custer of Wampum, PA, and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and, because of Covid, there will be only a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington D.C., 20090-6011.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Maplewood Senior Living for their special care of Mom over the last several years.
