Lois Irene Phillips

Lois Irene Phillips, devoted and energetic wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 after a brief battle with illness.
Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, she and husband, Dr. Leonard V. Phillips settled in Akron, Ohio in 1950. They were married for 68 years and had three children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lois loved music throughout her life and she was an accomplished pianist and clarinetist. Her fondness for music also inspired her to help launch a local women's vocal group called the Doctors' Belles which now is called Friends in Harmony. She loved to sing, and participated until just recently.
Bridge, gardening and following LeBron James' amazing basketball career were among her other passions. She cared about community service and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Lois was pre-deceased by husband, Dr. L.V. Phillips. She leaves behind son, Steve (Lizabeth) of Akron and his children Andrew (Sydney) and Melissa; daughter, Barbara Phillips Weidl (George), and her son, Danny (Molly) and daughters, Natalie (Greg Kappers) and Angie (Ian Stevenson) all in Pittsburgh, and daughter, Lynn Phillips Carolan (Rusty Carolan) and her sons, Michael (Nikki) and Brian (Kenzie) all of Winter Park and Orlando, Fla. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
We'd also like to give special thanks to Lois's loving and compassionate friend and caregiver, Laura Treml.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Deborah Nees officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour before the service. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse, c/o Akron General Foundation, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron 44307. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
