Loran Edward May, 86, passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2015.

He was the son of Mary E. May and Loran A. May, who preceded him in death along with his son, Mark Edward May. Ed, as he preferred to be called, graduated from Akron South High School, where he played on the golf and basketball teams. He was also a graduate of the University of Akron, where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber with 30 years of service. He started his career in sales for Firestone Diversified Products in Memphis, Tennessee and eventually became the President of Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville, Indiana. From there he was moved to Akron, where he became Vice President in charge of Diversified Products. He loved golf, handicapping the horses with his friends, and sports on all levels. His sense of humor was evident in his many life stories.

He leaves Leah A. May, his wife of 63 years; his sons, Matthew (Caroline), Eric (Shannon); his daughter, Erin Leigh May; his daughter in law, Becky Cain, wife of Mark May; thirteen grandchildren and many friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. SATURDAY at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Drive, Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Rev. Sarah D. Courtney officiating. Entombment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on FRIDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa/Palliative Care, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398.
