Lucille Van Doros

October 10, 1918 — December 7, 2014

Lucille Van Doros (Goges), 96, passed from her loving daughters arms to Heaven on December 7, 2014.

Born October 10, 1918 in Barberton, she was the daughter of George and Helen Goges.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Theodore Fotinopoulos, husband Nick Van Doros, who was the love of her life, brother Louis Goges, and sister in law Angie Goges. She is survived by her loving daughters Denise and Patti Van Doros, son George (Kathy) Van Doros; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Lucille loved people and she spread sunshine everywhere she went. Her journey in life would include meeting a handsome Greek man named Nick Van Doros at the Greek dances in Akron, they fell in love and married on June 8, 1941.

She accomplished a great deal in her life and never complained. She worked at B&W, then later at the Summit County Naturalization and Passport Division. She was active in the Republican Party, the school and Sunday School PTA, Daughters of Penelope, Melissa, and Good Samaritans. She loved to help those less fortunate and treated them with respect. She touched many lives in a very special way, leaving those better off for having known her.

Her later years were filled with caring for her mother and step-father. She made sure she kept herself busy with her friends; she played cards in three card clubs, as well as sending cards, she never wanted to miss someone's special day.

During the last 20 years of her life, her daughters were always there to comfort and take care of her. Her daughters were devoted caregivers for their mother, caring for her 24/7. During the end days at the hospital, they slept on either side of their mother holding each hand through the night until she passed away, it was a wonderful, peaceful, and loving transition to Heaven.

Thank you to ACH, Kris, Beth, and Jackie, 5th floor; special thanks to the Pallative Care Team Angels for providing the love and support that Lucille and her daughters so desperately needed.
