Lucille Sims

Lucille Sims, 94, passed away at home August 14, 2016.

She was born in Winston County, Alabama Jan. 19, 1922.
Her parents, Marion Homer Williams and Mandy Elizabeth Steele; husband, John Mark Sims; great grandson, Macklin Smith; brother, JL Williams; and sisters, Buela Williams and Cloa Holaway preceded Lucille in death.

She was a long time member of the Akron Baptist Temple and The Chapel on Fir Hill. Lucille was an original member of the Akron General Wellness Center starting at the age of 74 and still walking the track at 92. She made many friends there who have missed her sweet Alabama accent and her sense of humor. Her love and affection for her family was evident by the countless meals and delicious pies she served. Those who loved her will miss her immensely.

She is survived by her children, Carol Ann Smith (Robert), Connie Lee Bennett (John); known as Meme to her grandchildren, David Smith (Lisa), Leigh Sevick (Josh), Chris Smith (Laura), Kristin Lance (Nate); great grandchildren, Samantha Gasser (Eric), Taylor Smith, Allie Smith, Peyton Sevick; great great grandchild, Mason Gasser; and sisters, Estell Gay and Linda Miley.

Pastor Steve Bucy will conduct the funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family would like to thank the nurses of Akron General VNS Hospice Care for their loving care and support.
