Luke Richard Oldfield , 31, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 25th, 2024.
Luke grew up in the West Akron area and attended grade school at St. Sebastian. He then studied at Archbishop Hoban for two years before transferring to his neighborhood school, Firestone High. He graduated from Firestone in 2011, going on to study at The University of Akron. There he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. However, Luke's real passion was cooking. He made a professional life in the kitchen, learning from different chefs in the Akron area. Luke's greatest gift was that he was a friend to all. Luke was wise beyond his years and always knew just the right way to cheer someone up. He brought a joyful light to all around him with his silly disposition. His boisterous laugh carried and could put anyone at ease. To know him was to love him. He was a loyal friend, son, brother, and uncle. Luke's favorite pastimes included golfing and fishing with friends, trips to the Outer Banks with his family, and spending time with his nephews.
He is resting in heaven with his late father, Richard Lawrence Oldfield II, uncle, Donny Begue, and grandparents, Donald J. and Carol Begue and Dick and Elsie Oldfield. He is survived by his mother, Kimberly J. Oldfield and his sisters Dr. Lauren Oldfield (Brian Keener), Leah (Brennen) Ott, Ellen (Ryan) Cohen and Luke's most favorite nephews, Calvin and Lewis Cohen, and his loyal dog, Oliver.
