M. Kathleen Russell

M. Kathleen Russell, 92, a resident of Fairlawn, died October 1, 2012.

Kathleen was born in Akron and lived in the area all her life. She attended Portage Path and Buchtel High and graduated from The University of Akron with a BS in Ed. Her 39 year teaching career was at Manchester School and Fairlawn School. She was a member of NEA, ORTA, SCRTA, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, College Club, Fairlawn Area Chapter of AARP and was a Jennings Scholar. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a past president of Altar Guild and communion chairperson. Kathleen enjoyed doing needle point and counted cross stitch. With the help of the Altar Guild she made the Chrismon Tree possible.

She was preceded in death by James, her husband of 30 years. She is survived by many cousins and friends.

Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect St., Akron, OH 44304, with Pastor Eileen Woyen officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
