Marcella K Pace

June 25, 1921 — January 12, 2015

Marcella Kemp Pace, 93, passed away on January 12, 2015.

Born June 25, 1921 in Carthage, Tennessee, Mrs. Pace spent most of her life in Akron, Ohio. She was graduated from Buchtel High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, and later received a teaching degree from The University of Akron.

"Marcie", as she was generally known, was a wonderful daughter, niece, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a superb homemaker and shined as an elementary school teacher. She was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church and lived her faith through volunteering and care giving. She was a Red Cross nurses' aide at Akron City Hospital during WW II, served on the Women's Board at Akron General Hospital, and was a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. As a loving daughter, niece and wife, she managed for years the at-home care of her two aunts, her father, her mother and ultimately, her husband.

Marcie's main hobbies were golf (until she was 90), bridge and travel. She kept 33 separate photo albums documenting worldwide travels with her husband, family and a wonderful circle of friends.

Marcie will be remembered by many for her kind and generous nature. She was feisty and independent and always knew her own mind. Most of all, she was a lovely and proper lady with impeccable taste who always dressed well and maintained perfectly coiffed hair (many thanks to Ken McPherson).

Our family thanks Drs. Vernon Hershberger and Atul Goswami, along with the kind and caring staff and ICU team at Select Specialty Hospital in Akron. We are grateful that Marcie was in such good hands.

Marcie was preceded in death by her parents, Amy and Marcellus Kemp; son Craig Randall; and husband of 54 years, Dr. Henry A. Pace. She is survived by sons Gary James Pace (Susan) of San Jose, CA, and Hugh David Pace (Stephanie) of Akron, OH; grandchildren Heather (Michael) Ott, Curtis Pace, Alexis Pace, Hugh M. Pace (Erin) and Douglas Pace; and great grandchildren Jason, Ryan and Annabelle Ott.

Friends may call at the 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 380 Mineola Ave, with Pastor Linda Slutz and the Rev. Stephanie Pace officiating.
