Marcye Armington Bitler (Houston)

March 16, 1926 — February 12, 2013

Marcye Armington Bitler (Huston) was born March 16th, 1926 in Cuyahoga Falls, where she grew up and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and Kent State University. She passed away February 12th at her home in Stow after a long battle with emphysema.

She was married to Jim Armington in 1946 for 25 years and was remarried to LC Duke Bitler in 1973. Her passions were reading, writing and love of her family. She published many poems, short stories and essays and enjoyed keeping up and commenting on current news and politics. She raised her family in Silver Lake, most recently lived in Stow and loved spending time in Florida on the beach. Marcye was a lifetime member of the Kent State University Alumni Association, member of the Presidents Club and Phi Beta Kappa sorority. She joined the Church in Silver Lake in the late 50's. She also loved travel, needlepoint and watching the birds in her yard.

She is survived by her daughter, Suegene Wagner; son, Jim Armington Jr. and his wife, Cheryl; stepson, Jon Bitler; stepdaughter, Dee Bitler; her grandchildren, Kyle and Adam Wagner, Bob and Lily Armington, Jonathan, Michael and Jessica Dorsey; and great-grandchild, Abigail Dorsey. Marcye was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; brother, Ted; and stepson, Jim Bitler.

Calling hours will be held at The Church in Silver Lake at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Rd., Silver Lake, OH 44224.
