Margaret "Reb" Baldwin
Reb passed away peacefully on June 4th, and went to join her true soul mate husband, Yank, who pre-deceased her 14 years ago.
Born Mary Margaret Herrington in Floresville, Texas, on October 12, 1924, she graduated from Corpus Christi High School at 16 years old, and from the University of Texas, Austin, at just 19 years old, majoring in business and pre-law. She married Frank in 1944 and they enjoyed 60 years together. Since she was from the South, and he was from Michigan, their nicknames stuck throughout their adult lives as Reb (rebel) and Yank (yankee).
They settled in Akron, Ohio, as Goodyear was his employer. Reb stayed busy raising 4 children (Tim, Linda, Jane, and Greg) and still found time to volunteer in a big way as a PTA president, 37 years at Children's Hospital and over 30 years in various positions with the annual Holiday Tree Festival. She enjoyed over 50 years in a bridge club and was active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church for 50+ years as well, in a variety of responsibilities including receptionist and Altar Guild. Reb often cooked and personally delivered casseroles to friends in need and was always a cheerful, trustworthy listener.
The commemorative funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market St., Akron 44333. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333. Memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
