Margery Marr Walcott

Margery Marr Walcott, 95, of Akron, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Margery was born in Akron, Ohio to William Marr and Laura Shoemaker Marr on December 4,1926.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Betty Marr Brooks. Margery is survived by her husband of 67 years, Tom Wallace Lanier Walcott, her sister, Janet Marr Cross, her daughter, Lisa Walcott-Morley and son, Bruce Lanier Walcott (Katherine), 2 granddaughters Robin Hammond (Herb) and Kelly Dobson, 4 great-grandchildren, Andrew Zuckerman (Anne), Emily Zuckerman, Kennedy Dobson, and Madeline Bates, and 2 great-great granddaughters, Ashley Zuckerman and Olivia Zuckerman. Margery attended Buchtel High School and Denison College.

She taught English and History for Akron, Copley, Bath school systems until her retirement. Afterwards, she continued her passion for education serving as a substitute teacher in the Akron area public schools as well as Croton-on-Hudson in New York. She was an active member and volunteer for many years with Stan Hywet Hall. In addition, she served on the board of the Akron City Women’s Club. Margery loved to dance with her life long dance partner and husband, Tom and together they were also avid members of several bridge clubs in the Akron area.
