Marian Freitag Hartenstein
, of Akron, OH and Stuart, FL passed from life in the body to life in the spirit on November 15, 2022, the day after her 101st birthday. She was the daughter of Mabel Chambon Freitag and Richard Harold Freitag, and was the second child of six siblings, including Richard Jr, Ellen (Hay), Robert, and twins Joan (Isham) and Jean (Mathias). Marian’s dear sisters Ellen, of Akron, and Jean, of Indianapolis, survive her.
Marian is also survived by her children Sidney Charles Foster Jr (Linda), Nancy Elizabeth Benson (George “Woody,” deceased), and Brian Ellis Foster (Carole Ann). She was also blessed with five grandchildren: James, Kimberly, Benjamin, Lisa, and William; and 6 great-grandchildren: Aidan, Tristan, Matthew, Abigail, Ethan, and Henry.
Marian’s second marriage, to James S Hartenstein, who predeceased her in 2013, brought with it cherished relationships with Jim’s children, who survive her: James C Hartenstein (Lorena) and Nancy H Ernst; 5 grandchildren: Tom, Alexa, Beth, Jamie, and John Philip; and 9 great-grandchildren: Sally, James, Quinn, Luke, Andy, Jake, Eliza, Davey, and Maddie.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church of Akron at 11:00 a.m.
