Marilyn Mccann Andreeff

May 21, 1932 — July 22, 2017

Marilyn (McCann) Andreeff, 85, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2017, lovingly surrounded by her family.

Born in McKeesport, Pa., Marilyn was the daughter of the late David and Margaret McCann. A proud graduate of East High School, Marilyn went on to attend Kent State University and The University of Akron, earning her Bachelor's degree in Education from Akron. In college, she was active in vocal music and her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Marilyn taught English for two years at Copley High School and continued her love of the English language and literature, especially poetry, throughout her life. While attending The University of Akron, she met the love of her life, Nickolas Andreeff. She and Nick were married in 1957 and spent 52 wonderful years together before his passing in 2009.

Marilyn will be terribly missed by her loving daughters, Margaret (John) Matejkovic, Karen (John) Martin, and Laura (Alan) Ephlin; her devoted grandchildren, Nickolas, Allison, Catherine, Thomas, Andrew, and Jill; her brother, Cordell (Darlene) McCann; her nieces, Darlene Syx, Sheila McCann, and Christine Burkhart and their families; and many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, David ("Bud") McCann.

Marilyn was bright, kind, and gentle and had gorgeous blue eyes that were windows to her beautiful soul. She cared greatly for her community and volunteered for organizations such as WITAN, Summa/Akron City Hospital, Summit County Children's Services Board, Fairlawn Elementary School PTA, Firestone High School Music Boosters, the Akron Bar Auxiliary, and The Bath Church. Of greatest importance to Marilyn were her faith, her family, and her friends. She was the epitome of being resolute in her faith which she maintained throughout her life and instilled in her family.

A celebration of Marilyn's meaningful life will be held at The Bath Church on Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Adam Marquette officiating. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Friday, July 28 from 4 - 7 p.m.

In the final weeks of her life, Marilyn received the grace of the staff of the Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood, who were so caring and loving to her. Marilyn's family extends its sincerest gratitude for the kindness, compassion, and care that these amazing professionals gave to her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn's memory to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 or The Bath Church's Music Ministry Program, 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron, OH 44333.

Well done, good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).
