Marilyn M. Bednar-Kasarda (nee Hadfield), age 96, of Akron, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Marilyn graduated from West High School and Kent State University with a degree in education. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed her ladies’ lunches and any opportunity to have a classy party to bring out the fine China. Marilyn loved an adventure and enjoyed travelling all over the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. More than anything, Marilyn loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Marilyn lived a long life devoted to serving others. She was a proud caregiver for several of her family members and served on as many service boards and volunteer opportunities she could find. Marilyn was a board member of the Sumner Board, Stan Hywet, Weathervane Playhouse, and the Akron Art Museum. She was a very active member of the Akron Women’s City Club, being the longest running member for 72 years and a long-time member of First Congregational Church of Akron. She was involved in many organizations, such as PEO, Merriman Hills Garden Club, WITAN, M.I.T. Wives Club, Children’s Concert Society, and the Alpha Phi Alumna Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Eloise Hadfield; husbands, William Bednar and John Kasarda.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Bednar-Good DDS (Steven) and Laurel Bednar DVM; grandsons, David Good (Trisha) and Brian Good (Rachel); great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Adrian, and Desmond.
Friends may call on FRIDAY, February 14, 2025, from 3-5:30 PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Funeral service will take place SATURDAY, February 15, at 10:00AM at First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St. Akron, OH 44308. Interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Funeral attendees are invited to wear PINK in honor of Marilyn’s favorite color.
