On Monday, April 4, Marilyn Murray Douglas died at age 95. Born in Tacoma, Washington, she was the daughter of Mary Louisa Donald and Ernest Kenneth Murray.
She was the third of their four children, all now deceased. Marilyn graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college, she worked for The Boeing Company and lived in the Seattle area. A second marriage then took her family to Detroit. She especially loved sailing, skiing and travel, becoming a travel agent later in her life in San Diego and Palo Alto, Calif. She sailed the Great Lakes, skied from the Pacific Northwest and Rockies to the Alps. She journeyed to Europe, Africa and Asia, along with seeing much of North America.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael, and his wife Sue, of Akron, Barry, of Doylestown, Pa., Jamie, and his wife Sue of Ipswich, Mass. She had six grandchildren. Marilyn moved to Akron two decades ago to be closer to family.
Her family thanks the staff of The Merriman and Harmony Hospice for their attention, care and comfort.
