Marilyn D. Hodge

November 25, 1925 — July 16, 2012

Marilyn D. Hodge passed away on Monday, July 16th after an extended bout with breast cancer.

She was born in West Hazelton, Pa. on November 30, 1925. She was a registered nurse and homemaker. Marilyn was the widow of Dr. James R. Hodge who passed away in 1994. They both loved travelling and dancing. They were both members of Fairlawn West UCC since 1956. Marilyn was a weekly volunteer at Hospice Care Center since 1995 and a former member of the Summit County Medical Auxiliary.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Scott (Karen) of Akron and daughter, Sharon Davis (Legare) of Scottsdale, Ariz. She also leaves two nieces and nephew and many dear friends.

There will be no calling hours, Marilyn will be cremated. A memorial service celebrating her life will be Saturday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Fairlawn West United Church of Christ. Both Marilyn and her husband's ashes will be taken to their favorite island, Kauai, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Fairlawn West United Church of Christ, 2095 West Market St., Akron, OH 44313 or Akron General Development Foundation, Hospice Fund, 400 Wabash Avenue, Akron, OH 44307.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood as well as the many volunteers from there who visited Marilyn at her home, especially Paula, Carol and Kenny. Your help and care for her was immeasurable to us. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
