Marjorie Alice Hazlett Case
, age 101, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023.
Marge was born on the family farm in Smicksburg, Pennsylvania to the late William M. Hazlett and Alice Butler Hazlett. She had an older brother, the late William R. Hazlett, who she adored.
Marjorie graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Dietetics. She was completing her internship at University Hospitals in Cleveland when she went on a blind date with a dental student at Case Western Reserve named Roy Case. They married in 1946 and were together until his death in 2018, 71 years.
Marge and Roy settled in Akron, Ohio after Roy’s graduation from dental school and had two sons. The family relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia due to Roy’s service in the Navy during the Korean War. After Roy’s military service, they returned to Akron and civilian life. Roy built his dental practice and Marjorie was a stay-at-home Mom until their third child was 10, then she returned to work as a Dietician. She retired from Akron General Medical Center.
In retirement she volunteered at Stan Hywet, was active in her church and spent many hours gardening. She loved cooking and made her home a welcoming destination on the Holidays for her children, sister-in-law and grandchildren.
Her three children were blessed to have her love, support and encouragement all these years, Charles D. (Laurel) of Pennsylvania, Robert W. (Marceil) of Colorado and Patricia of Akron. Also left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are six grandchildren, Lee, Ben, Bill, Alice, Ted and Andy, and six great-grandchildren, Angus, Rosemary, Charles, Olive, Cooper and Levi.
For the past two years Marge has made Rockynol Assisted Living her home. We thank the dedicated staff for the loving care given our mother. We also thank Summa Hospice for their care and support during her last days.
