Marjorie "Granny" Karadin

December 16, 1918 — June 14, 2015

Marjorie "Granny" Karadin (Nee Hurst)
Marjorie Karadin, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 14th in the home she loved.
Born in Akron, Ohio on December 16, 1918, Marge attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from North High School in 1937. After marrying the love of her life, George, on June 15, the couple moved briefly to Laramie, Wyoming until George shipped out for WW II. Marge then returned to Akron where she worked in the Goodyear blimp factory as part of the war effort.
As her own children began to arrive, Marge turned her interests to teaching piano to area children and scouting. Marge was a Girl Scout leader for over 30 years - sharing her love of nature and hiking with many.
Over the years, many came to call Marge "Granny" as she took that sweet role not only with her own grandchildren, but those of generations of friends' little ones. She opened her heart, home and cookie jar to many. She will be missed.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Eunice and Arthur Hurst; her daughter, Marjorie Kistler; sister, Helen Scheu; and husband, George. She is survived by her sons, James Karadin and George W. (Becky) Karadin; daughter, Kim (David) Reitz; four grandchildren, Joshua (Leanne) Karadin, Megan Karadin, Morgen (Brian) Zimmerman, and James Anton Karadin; and two great-grandchildren, Sebastian Graham and Luke Karadin.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19th, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Sandra Selby officiating. Burial will take place immediately following services at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to the Summit County Metro Parks system.
