Marjorie Ann Medvedeff, 85, passed peacefully from sleep into the arms of the Lord on the morning of February 15, 2010.
She is now reunited with her husband, Eugene; her parents, Roy and Ruth Underhill; and her sister, Jane. Her absence will be deeply felt by her five children, Mark, James, Eugene ``Dan', Rebecca Haynes and Christopher, as well as her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Marjorie, Ann to many of her friends, was born May 14, 1924 and was a life long resident of Akron. She graduated from Buchtel High School and remained active on the planning committee for her class reunions. She was an original member of the Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church on Madison Avenue and later of Christ United Methodist Church. Marjorie was a volunteer member in the Salvation Army Auxiliary and also served as a volunteer leader with the Girl Scouts of America. She worked for many years as a merchandiser for American Greetings. Marge always had a smile on her face and a happy encouraging word for all she met. Over the years she won and maintained countless friendships, many extending back to childhood. To these she added many friends from her graduating class at Baldwin Wallace College, including her teammates on the Women's Intramural Basketball Team and her sisters in the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Through participation in several Bridge Clubs, other groups, and the special ``Month of `A' Club' she treasured and nurtured these friendships; her loss will be shared by all who knew her. She thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to her weekly Tuesday Lunch Club with her three local children. Among her favorite activities was to vacation with her extended family in Mitiwanga, Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie, where she frequently claimed sometimes correctly to have regularly won the annual family gin card game tournaments. In that peaceful setting nearly every evening she would find a little quiet time to sit on the bench and watch the beautiful sunset.
And now it was in the beautiful sunrise of a clear early morning that she ascended to her reward. We who remain will mourn her passing and yet receive an even greater strength from the example of her life well led.
