Martha J. Thomas

Martha J. Thomas (nee Shook), 95, passed away at home March 20, 2012.

Born in Akron, she was a life resident of the area. A member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, she was a graduate of Central High School and had volunteered at Akron City Hospital for 27 years. Mrs. Thomas was formerly an assistant manager for the Akron Woman's City Club.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. Thomas; sister, Muriel Schrecongost; cousin, Bob Latsch; and nephews, William Schrecongost and Wellington Mason; she is survived by her nieces, Karen Schrecongost and Natalie Mason; great-nieces, Wendy Day and Laura Ann Mason; great-great-niece, Kasondra Ann Day; great-great-nephews, William and Zachary Day.

Service will be held 1 p.m. FRIDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Pastor Eileen Woyen officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service begins. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect St., Akron, Ohio 44304.
