Born in Akron, Ohio on October 17, 1951, Mary Rebecca "Becky" Babcox passed peacefully in her own home, surrounded by family on October 15, 2012, after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Becky was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Robbie.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary Babcox. She is survived by her son, Robbie Kepple, Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Dr. Lucy (Dr. John) Morris, St. Louis, Mo., Sarah (Jim) Harrity, Wayne, Pa.; brothers, Tom Babcox, Northfield, Ohio, and Bill (Patty) Babcox, Cleveland, Ohio; nieces and nephews include Carrie (Aaron) Morris Mintz, Ted Morris J.D., Mary Morris, Kate Harrity, Todd Harrity, Hannah Harrity, Bridget Babcox and Matthew Babcox.
A lifelong resident of "Akron my Akron" except for higher education, Becky attended King Elementary School and Old Trail High School, before attending Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her post graduate MBA program at The Ohio State University. After graduation, she returned to Akron to start her lifelong career at Babcox Media where she worked for 27 years in a variety of roles including Corporate Secretary, Publisher, VP and Executive Team Member.
In addition to her significant career accomplishments, she served her beloved Akron Community by giving time and energy to the following organizations: Goodwill, Planned Parenthood, Junior League of Akron, The Akron Garden Club and Old Trail School.
Becky would be the first to tell you that her greatest achievement of all was being a Mom and she made sure all educational, athletic, and recreational doors were open for her son, Robbie, whom she loved dearly. She also was a devoted aunt and friend, giving her love unconditionally. All those who knew her would say her generosity was unmatched. She lived life with a positive attitude and even in the end stages of life never relinquished her characteristic grace and humility.
Robbie and the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers, nurses and doctors who helped Becky and her family throughout her illness.
