Mary A. Moran, 86, passed from this life on November 25, 2009.
Dear mother of Teri Moran Tom, Bill Moran Patti, deceased, and Kathleen Harpley Tom. Loving grandmother to Danni Moran and Lyssa Moran. Mary cherished her five siblings who have been so supportive of her throughout the years, Ann Valeri Ramo, deceased, Joe Blike Irene, Mike Blike Ruth, John Blike Helen, deceased and Jeannette Clegg Glenn.
She enjoyed visiting with her many nieces and nephews and receiving updates on their interesting lives. Mary was proud of her Slovak heritage and the many traditions that enriched her early years and she shared many of the Holiday customs with family and friends.
Her early career took her to Washington D.C., where she worked for the Undersecretary of the Navy in the Pentagon. She briefly lived and worked in Brooklyn, N.Y. and eventually returned home to Akron, Ohio where she raised her family and retired from the former B.F. Goodrich Company as a Patent Secretary.
Mary was a talented seamstress, sketching her own patterns and creating her own clothes designs. She also was a talented sketch artist with pen and pencil. In her first job out of school at General Tire in Akron, she won first prize for her drawing of The Horn Of Plenty that was an ad for War Bonds in the Company newsletter. She had a soft spot for animals and took in many strays that found their way to her doorstep over the years.
A memorial service to be held at a later date. Those wishing to honor Mary's memory may do so by contributing to their favorite animal shelter or the Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
