Mary Jane Mounts

Mary Jane Frye Mounts, 84 died May 22,2017. She was born in West Virginia to Thelma and
Richard Frye. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Susan Casey; son, Bill Mounts;
grandsons, Patrick and David Casey; sister, Connie Dixon; and brother, Bill Frye.


Mary graduated from Marshall University and taught Phys Ed for 5 years at South Euclid after which she left teaching to raise her children. Later in life she decided to go back to school to major in Spanish. She rode the bus every day to attend Akron University. After graduation, she taught Spanish at Revere High School.

Mary and Dick shared 62 years of married life. For several years they played golf in Akron and Florida where she hit a hole-in-one. Mary was the neighborhood leader and often invited others to their home to eat special foods while sitting on the floor. She enjoyed her black lab, Rocky who greeted her every day when she returned from teaching at Revere High School. She also enjoyed volleyball and horseshoes in the back yard. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, WEDNESDAY, May 31, 2017 at Fairlawn West United Church of Christ, 2095 W Market Street, Akron, OH 44313, with Reverend Debbie Rhinesmith officiating. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at the church from 9 to 11 am. Inurnment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairlawn Nursing and Rehab, 3558 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.
