Mary Pappas

Mary Pappas, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 14th, 2015.

She was a graduate of East High School in Akron and Hammel Business School. She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. where she was employed as an executive assistant.
Mary was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where she was active in the Philoptochos Society and volunteered at the weekly gyro luncheon for many years.
She loved to play cards with her friends and was a formidable scrabble player. She loved to cook and spend time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James; daughter, Penelope; and sisters, Ann and Rose. She is survived by her brother, Paul (Leona) Sisamis of Destin, FL; sons, John of Aurora, IL, and George (Carol) of Akron; son-in-law, Apostolos Raptis of Downers Grove, IL; and grandchildren, Costa, Jimmy, Chris (Emily), Nick, Emily, Marissa, and Jon.

Funeral services will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Akron, 129 S. Union St., at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015. Burial to follow at Mount Peace Cemetery. Family and friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Trisagion service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ohio Buckeye Chapter, 6155 Rockside Rd., Suite 202, Independence, Ohio 44131, www.msohiobuckeye.org .
