Maurice H. Converse, M.D., 85, died Oct. 19, 2010.
Born in Massillon, he was a retired physician, a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater and a member of the VFW Post 349. He was an avid gardener, photographer, OSU Buckeyes and Massillon Tigers fan and alumnus.
Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Emma and brothers, Howard, Ralph and LaVern, he is survived by wife, Louise; children, Anita Converse Jeff Halpert, Gregg, Brian, Jeff Kelli, and Bruce Converse; grandchildren, Jennifer Shannon, Amanda, Kyle and Katarina Converse; brothers, Richard Frances and Julian Converse; sister-in-law, Dorothy Converse; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Tripper.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, with Rev. David Foster officiating and military rites by Copley VFW Post 7971. There are no calling hours. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Akron General Medical Center Cardiac Unit, 400 Wabash Ave., Akron 44307.
