Maxine Marie Elias

September 12, 1936 — February 16, 2018

After a lifetime of bringing laughter and cheer to others, Maxine Marie Elias went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2018. Maxine was born in Cleveland to John and Louise Elias. The family soon moved to Akron where she remained throughout her life.

Those that knew Maxine loved her. Being in her presence for 15 minutes would improve your whole day, pick you up when you were down and make you laugh when you were sad.
Maxine was always happy, sincere, intuitive, caring, generous, and extremely funny (with a dash of sarcasm). She was always enjoyable to be around as she would light up the room.
After high school, she obtained her cosmetology degree and quickly grew her career to owning and operating a successful beauty salon in Fairlawn for over 30 years. Her personality, compassion for others, and keen business abilities contributed to her successful career.

Maxine enjoyed time with her family and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians. She would continually arrange and host parties and stay in contact with her daughter, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other extended family members, resulting in their maintaining close relationships and cherishing her memory.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Elias; and her brothers, Richard Elias and John Phillip Elias. She will forever be missed and remembered by her daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Harkless; her grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Harkless and Madison Paige Harkless; her siblings, June (Robert) Denious, Cheryl Owen, and Attorney Eugene (Terry) Elias. Preceded in death by her nephew, Gary John Owen. Also to cherish her memory are nephews and nieces, Jay, Sam, Lyndell, Jon, Chris, Ty, Bobby, Janine, Richie, Todd, Shawn, John, Karrie, Zach, Nick (Crew), and Ashley; and great nephews and nieces who were all special to her.
Being a devout Eastern Orthodox Christian as Maxine was, there is no doubt that she is making heaven an even happier place.
We would like to thank the entire staff at Summa Akron City Hospital at T2ICU for their excellent care provided to Maxine.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with Fr. John Al-Assaf officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
