Maxine Stamas

Maxine Stamas, 90, passed away January 7, 2016.

Born in Springfield, Ohio Nov. 19, 1925 to Louis and Katina Vlahos, she lived for 40 years in Dayton, 18 years in Naples, FL and since 2005 in Akron. She attended Wittenberg University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Maxine worked for 8 years as a dental assistant, and then side by side with her husband in the family business, Sta-Lite, Inc. She was a member of Greek Orthodox Churches in Springfield, Dayton, Naples and Akron, sang in the choir, served as choir director and as a member of the Philoptochos Society. She loved to cook Greek meals for her family and many friends, play cards and golf, and attend concerts, enjoying life until the end.

Preceded in death by her best friend and beloved husband of 58 years, Nick S. Stamas; her parents, and brothers John, Lester, and Michael Vlahos; Maxine was the proud mother of sons, Michael (Nancy) of Brecksville, Steven (Barbara) of Dallas; daughter, Nikki (John) Relic of Richfield; loving YiaYia of grandchildren Alexa (Evan), Andrew (Sara), Nicholas (Maggie), Jeff (Adrienne), Lindsey (Matthew), and Traci (John).

Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. SUNDAY with the Trisagion service conducted by Rev. Fr. Jerry F. Hall at 5 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Akron 44333. Services will be held 11 a.m. TUESDAY at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S.
