Maxine Wharton, 79, of Fairlawn, Ohio went to be with the lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
She was born in Ed Wight, WV, the daughter of the late Stanley and Dona Cook, on May 28, 1937. Maxine lived and worked in Akron for much of her life. She was a physical therapist assistant at Akron General Medical Center for 25 years and retired after 10 years serving in home health. Maxine married Herbert Edward Wharton July 26, 1975. She will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
Preceded in death by her son, James Dean Estep; Maxine is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ed Wharton; daughter, Pam Given; grandchildren, April Abrams (Cesar) Nieves, Christopher (Bethany) Abrams; great-grandchildren, Hailey Abrams, Kaileb Nieves, Kaileyn Nieves, Jonah Abrams and Declan Abrams.
Services will be held 12:00 p.m. FRIDAY, January 6, 2017 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Reverend Jerry Toothman officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. THURSDAY at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Akron Blind Center, 325 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44304, in Maxine Wharton's name.
