Mervyn F. Danison, a man of many interests, passed away on November 2, 2015.
Born March 21, 1930 to Irene (Krounapple) and Fredrick Mervyn Danison, he lived his entire life in the Akron area.
He was a senior photographer for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 23 years; he retired in 1995. He had many previous jobs, putting himself through school while working full time. However photography was his passion and he travelled extensively for Goodyear both in the USA and other countries. He was very well known and admired by many drivers at the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 raceways. It was said that other Goodyear employees were delighted when Merv was assigned to their project. He also taught photography at Akron University for many years.
Merv served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart of which he was very proud but spoke of very seldom. He was also very willing to be of service to anyone who needed a hand often putting his own desires on hold. Merv was a skilled woodworker and made many of his home furniture and kitchen cabinets. He was a welcomed and beloved member at the Keller Woodshop. Merv was also an avid reader, preferring historical literature and had a fantastic memory for details.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, and his brother Major Kenneth R. Danison, USMC. He is survived by many cousins, the Metcalfe, Moross, Sykes, and Zimmerman families.
