Michael Steidl, born May 24, 1917, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 at age 99 years and 8 months.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Andrew and Mary Jung Steidl and graduated from South High School. He served in the Navy in World War II as a machinist mate on the USS Gage and returned home to marry Katie May on August 17, 1946. He built his own home and lived much of his adult life in Northampton Township, having four sons and founding L & M Tool and Die in Akron. He loved Square Dancing and was a founding member of the Wahoos Square Dance club in Cuyahoga Falls.
Preceded in death by his wife Kathryn and son, Paul; brothers, Andrew, John, Carl, Frank and Joe; he is survived by his three sons, Daniel (Elaine), Thomas (Paula) and Mike (HongRu); grandchildren, Gregory, Lauren (Patrick) Brown, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Alexa, Katie, Asia, Zachary, Brandon, and Jasen; and great grandchildren, Rosalie, Ben and Lucy; brothers and sisters, Catherine Fulop, Harriet Fetzer, Hedwig Steidl and Frederick Steidl; sister-in-law, Jean Brown and brother-in-law, James May.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on TUESDAY and from 10 to 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., when the Rev.
