Myron James Barden passed away on August 21, 2009 at the age of 89 years.
He was born in Barberton, Ohio and resided for over 60 years in Akron, Ohio. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army in World War II. He graduated from The University of Akron, with a B.S. and a M.B.A. in accounting. Myron worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and retired after 40 years as an administrative tax assistant. He was an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at The University of Akron for over 10 years. Following retirement, he focused on charitable work, primarily assisting senior citizens with tax returns for AARP for 13 years. He volunteered at the Haven of Rest Mission and was a member and volunteer of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Florence Barden, he is survived by wife, Carol; son, Gregory Barden of Columbus, Ohio; son, Larry Sarah Barden; grandsons, Matthew, William and Samuel Barden, all of Northbrook, Illinois. Also survived by sister, Martha James Kelley of Barberton, Ohio, and six Barden/Kelley nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 West Exchange Street, Akron, with Rev. Diane Walker officiating. Burial will be private.
