Nan Sumner Force, 85 passed away peacefully on February 25, 2015 at Concordia at Sumner.
She attended Buchtel High School, Wells College and graduated from The University of Akron. While attending The University of Akron, Nan was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She was a lifelong resident of Akron and volunteered for WITAN, Stan Hywet, and Lifeline. She was the accountant for Jack Force Building and Realty. Nan will be remembered for her love of water skiing, especially at Lake Cumberland, Kentucky, walleye fishing, gardening, thoroughbred handicapping, Golden Retrievers, playing cards, cooking, and knitting. Nan seemed to always have a house full of college kids and that she was either feeding or listening to their many life challenges.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Georgialee Sumner; brother, Thomas "Doc" Sumner; and husband of 58 years, Jack Hudson Force. She is survived by sons, Frank (Peggy) Force, John Force; daughter, Georgialee (Eric) Adams; and grandchildren, Mandy (Brad), Amber, Avery, Elizabeth, Lauren, Ian, and Erin.
The family would like to express its gratitude for the loving care that was given to their mother by the staff of Concordia at Sumner.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 2nd, at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sumner Employee Appreciation Fund.
