Nancy Nixon Johnson nee Smith
Nancy Johnson was born in Akron, Ohio on November 7, 1929 to the late Frederick and Ruth Smith, and passed away on October 8, 2008.
She graduated from Buchtel High School and Ohio University. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Psi Chi honorary. She took post-graduate work at the University of Akron. She was employed at various times by Ohio Bell Telephone Co., Clint Miller Reality, and Akron Public Schools.
Nancy was married to her husband, Bob, for over 30 years. She was a painter and writer. She and Bob enjoyed spending time with their friends and family. She also loved to spend time with her LOL group, art class, writing class and the Bell girls.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Gene Nixon. She is survived by sons, Gene Karen Nixon, Fred Cathy Nixon; daughter, Diana Woods; stepsons, Dave Isa Johnson, Tom Anne Johnson and stepdaughter, Carol Mike Bridges; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at the V.N.S. Hospice Care Center for their compassion and kindness.
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. FRIDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY at FAITH LUTHERAN Church, with Pastor Jean Hansen officiating. Private inurnment at East Akron Cemetery.
