Nancy Barnett Post passed away on February 24, 2013 at the age of 84.
She was born to James Barnett and Dorothy Wright in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on November 28, 1928. In 1932, her family moved to Akron, Ohio where she attended public school and in 1946, she graduated from Central High School. She attended Akron University and was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma, an association which she valued the rest of her life. She was introduced to her future husband, Herman B. Post, by her sister Anne Barnes. Nancy and Herman were later married in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Akron on April 7, 1951. She and her husband had one child, Herman, who resides in Salt Lake City.
She was a wonderful wife and mother and supported her husband's career with Goodyear by managing the family's moves to eight different cities during their early years. This remarkable woman was an incredible cook, a tireless gardener, an expert bridge player, and a voracious reader. In her younger years, she loved golf and bowled more than one perfect game. She loved to win.
She volunteered at Akron General Hospital for over twenty-three years and at the Akron Art Museum for ten years. She loved her backyard birds and participated in the annual bird count sponsored by the National Audubon Society. She was a long-time member of the Bath Women's Club.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Asera Hospice, who enabled her to remain at home comfortably, overlooking the backyard ravine that she loved so much.
She is survived by her husband, Herman; son, Herman (Carlie Christensen); brother, James Barnett (Anna); and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her sister, Anne.
A private memorial will be held for the family at a later date.
