Nan Mack Bartlett

February 3, 1948 — October 27, 2023

Akron

Nan Mack Bartlett left her earthly body to join her heavenly father on October 27, 2023. She left peacefully and with grace surrounded by Aaron, Sarah and Rob.

Nan was one of a kind. Her Facebook profile states: Can't do anything without God; Bleeds Scarlet and Gray; Loves Jesus' Mission; Works hard Plays harder. Her chosen career was an accountant/bookkeeper for A. Clarke Mack, Inc., Bluecoats Inc., and The Bookseller. Her passion and life’s work was ministering Christ through service. She was the manager at Good Samaritan Hunger Center for many years and wrote grants to inaugurate the “Kids Bags” program for Akron’s children. She notably volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Broken Chains Ministries, Project Angel Tree, and Mitzvah Day in Akron. At church, she was on the Vestry, Needlepoint, Altar Guild, Youth Group Ministries, Doubles and Singles, countless Bible Study groups, Missions Committee, and many more. She was a missionary, going to her loved country Haiti for over 10 years and most recently, Nigeria.

Being a sports enthusiast, Nan cheered ruthlessly for The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Tribe, Brownies, Falcon Softball/Baseball, and WABL teams. No one can forget Nan with a megaphone, even the umpires. To honor her; we are encouraging all who attend her memorial to wear their favorite team gear. There will be special seating (outside) for those who choose to wear maize/blue or black/yellow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Clarke Mack and Ann Saalfield Mack and best friend and husband, Roger. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Robert) Core; son, Aaron; beloved grandchildren, Maggie & Jack Core; brother Jim (Bonnie) Mack; dearest nephew Jimmy Mack; the Pung family; her St. Paul’s family; her PEO sisters; many “adopted” children she opened her heart and home to over the years; a wide net of friends who instantly became family; and the many strangers she met who quickly became friends.

We would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Arden Courts and Promedica Hospice. They offered us peace and unconditional love to mom. Arden Courts is a place to live rather than a place to stay. Their unmatched care offers residents and family dignity and grace through a difficult disease.
