Nathan Earl Williams, 45, died January 30, 2025, in Brunswick, Ohio. Born June 4, 1979, in Akron, he spent his life trying to make the world a better place. We will miss him so much.
A Firestone High School grad, Nathan attended the University of Akron. During college, Nathan's favorite place was behind the scenes at WUAP, the university's radio station. He loved the intersection of audio, computers, and broadcasting at the dawn of the music streaming era.
Nathan installed audio systems for homes and small companies, built personal computers for himself and friends, but wanted his own business. He trained as a company semi driver, and after six years bought a tractor outfitted for hauling chemicals in bulk. He put well over a million miles on his Kenworth in 14 years as an independent trucker, and earned a reputation as a careful and meticulous handler of dangerous materials. His career took him to most of the states in the contiguous United States and most Canadian provinces, including Nova Scotia (yes, via ferry).
Long-distance trucking makes a lonesome road, but Nathan stayed connected to a lively group of online friends with interests in politics, gaming, and computers. He read voraciously, and in the pre-Kindle era the cab of his truck was crammed with books. He was so full of love, and at his happiest when he could be off the road and with family.
Nathan leaves his father Michael Williams and brother Trevor Williams to grieve. Also, aunts Cinda (Rodrick) Chima and Linda (Tim) Torson, and uncle Joseph (Sue) Spiess. He leaves cousins Maria and Andrew Spiess, Eric (Jess) Chima, Keith (Jen) Chima, a host of friends in the online gaming community, and best friend Jeremiah Yareff. Nathan is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Williams.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Nathan’s life will take place on WEDNESDAY, February 12, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333.
