Nick was born and raised in Cleveland and graduated from Lincoln High School where he excelled in football and baseball and was also the President of his Student Council. After the war, Nick attended Ohio University and settled back in Cleveland. At a church dance, he met the love of his life, Katherine, and moved to Akron.

Nick worked as a cement mason Local 109 and became foreman for the Fabbro & Sons Company for many years. Known for his smile and easy going nature, Nick liked to golf, play cards, and listen to swing music. He was always ready to jitterbug at anytime. He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where he enjoyed working the luncheons on Thursdays before he became ill.
