Nicholas U. Zuppas, 87, passed peacefully July 23, 2013.
Born in Wooster, Ohio, he attended the College of Wooster prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. After discharge from the service, he attended and graduated from The Juilliard School of Music in New York City. Nicholas was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, its Men's Club, and AHEPA. He retired from Westfield Insurance Companies with over 30 years of service in addition to being an accomplished violinist. He played with the Akron, Grand Rapids, South Bend, and Houston Symphony Orchestras.
Preceded in death by his sister, Florence Gatsios and brother, Alex; he is survived by his wife, Eugenia "Jane" Zuppas; children, Pamela Zuppas Frum and John (Lisa) Zuppas; grandchildren, Andrew Frum, Nicholas and Alexandra Zuppas; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Petlansky, Paula Pixler, Bill and Nick Zuppas.
Services will be held 11 a.m. MONDAY at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Jerry Hall officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Monday at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., SUNDAY from 4 to 7 p.m., with the Trisagion service taking place at 6:30 p.m. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 129 S.
