NORMA JUNE JOHNSTON

July 21, 1929 — December 10, 2024

Akron

Norma J. Johnston

July 21, 1929 – December 10, 2024

“I’ve lived a good life” was a phrase she often said of her 95 years! And she did live a good life – an avid golfer, loved bowling, traveled extensively and had a successful career.

Norma June Johnston died December 10, 2024 while recuperating from a broken hip. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Johnston and her siblings, Les, Russell, Betty and Ralph, Jr.

“Toots”, as she was lovingly called by her family, will be dearly missed by her nephews, Ted Johnston of Florida and Levon Johnson of Shelby, OH, and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Also mourning her death are her neighbors (who were her village) and cared for her the past five years – Jan Dawson, Steve and MaryAnn Coudriet, Mindy and Rick Hogg and many close friends. Her two “honey buns” Cole and Connor Dawson will miss her also.

She often said “Do it while you can”. Days pass by quickly, years rush by. Don’t put off having fun!

Norma hated winter – so we are planning a service in the Spring when her beloved daffodils bloom! A date has not yet been determined.

Norma worked at B & W after high school and then on to Goodyear. She was an Administrative Assistant in the Law Department, holding the highest security clearance. When she retired, she handled payroll for her nephew, Richard, who owned Richard’s Florist.

If you were a friend of hers, I’m sure you were a recipient of her many “finds” at Marc’s! Her daily shopping trip to the store for a bottle of Matthew Fox wine and oh so many treasures in the close-out aisles. The employees at Marc’s asked if she’d like a job there since she was more dependable than many of their workers. Employees still ask about her!

She so enjoyed the City of Akron bus trips with friends to Ohio Light Opera, casino outings, and trips to other cities. She had so many dear friends.

I’m sure Norma is celebrating a reunion with her family in Heaven. Probably doing the Chicken Dance and sipping a glass of wine. Rest in Peace. You will be missed!
