Norma Jean (Holmes) Van der Sluis, 86, died February 5, 2014.
She is survived by her sister, Vicky Urbano of Cuyahoga Falls; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Donna Holmes of Sacramento, CA; son, Jeffrey Van der Sluis of Fremont, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Greg Gordon of Westerville, OH; grandchildren, Amanda Starr of Worthington, OH, Emily and Devin Van der Sluis of Fremont, CA; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Alaina Freeman of Worthington, OH; niece, Kelly Urbano and her husband, Larry O'Neil and their daughter, Cecilia O'Neil of Akron, OH.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Norma never lost her child-like wonder in the beauty of nature and the joy of others. She shared her excitement of life with everyone she met. Her life-long endeavor was to make people happy through compassion, acceptance, humor and her big heart. Her special spark will continue to shine in all of us lucky enough to have known her.
A gathering to celebrate this wonderful person will be held at the home of Vicky Urbano, 406 W. Heritage Dr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 on SATURDAY, February 9th from 3 to 6 p.m. Donations in her honor may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron 44308. (Billow FALLS Chapel)
