Olaf Nielsen, 93, born on May 27, 1923 to Sophus and Paula (Matzen) Nielsen in Haderslev, Denmark, died on January 18, 2017.
Olaf moved to the US in 1939. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. Graduated from Tufts University in 1947. He was married to Dolores K. (Speicher) Nielsen until her passing in 2013. He was a senior patent attorney for Firestone Tire and Rubber until his retirement in 1986. Served on the Bath Township Zoning board and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Olaf is survived by his children, Paula (Rob) Wade, Eric (Jean), Lisa and Peter (Renae); grandchildren, Kari, Erica and Janna Wade, Kyle (Meghan), Trevor, Gina, Laina and Hunter; great grandchild, Cameron Wade.
Private family services will be held on January 27, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church 1361 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
