Oscar A. Hunsicker, Jr., 87, died June 10, 2010 after fighting prostate cancer.
Oscar was born in Lodi, Ohio and was an Akron resident all of his adult life. He graduated from The University of Akron, where he was a member of Lone Star Fraternity and was a graduate of Case Law School. He served his country in Europe during World War II in the U.S. Army with his friend, Mert Kerek. He recently retired from Brouse McDowell in September, 2009 and was a life board member of The Salvation Army of Akron.
Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; son, J. Bruce; brother, Donald Gault Hunsicker and sister, Margaret Swartz. He is survived by his son, Oscar III Barbara of Cuyahoga Falls; daughter, Julie Ann David Basarab of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Laura Hunsicker of Bath; grandchildren, Amy Hunsicker, Sarah Verne Waldo, Grant Hunsicker and Steven Hunsicker; great-grandchildren, Grace, Elyse and Seth Waldow and niece, Linda Bruce Vaughn.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313 with the Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. Private family committal at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd.
