Owen Russell "Russ" Moore

Owen Russell "Russ" Moore, 94, passed away at Medina Hospital on July 4, 2016.


Russ was born on September 21, 1921 to Mattie and Bernie Moore. He attended South High School where he was the president of his graduating class. While attending South High he met Marian Dolores Eberly and they married. Russ served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as the head of data processing management for the Lawson Milk Company and he retained his love of computers throughout his life. Russ was a long time member of Grace UCC and recently attended Bath Church.


Russ was very active in his community. He was a member of the Scottish Rite for over 60 years, was the past president of the Akron Chapter of the Data Processing Management Association and was a recent member of the Bath Goodtime Club. Russ also enjoyed golfing, working in his vegetable garden, square dancing with his wife and spending time with his family.


Preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his wife, Marian, of 75 years; sons, Robert (Marty) Moore of Maine, Jeff (Chris) Moore of Akron and Bill (Elizabeth) Moore of Panama; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.


Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, at 3 p.m. at Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. with Rev. Mark Frey officiating. Friends may call Thursday one hour prior to the services. Interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. If you wish to attend services at the cemetery details will be posted on the funeral home website at a later date. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
