Patricia J. Ramsey
(née Byers) passed away on September 7, 2022, nearly a year after her beloved husband, Roger, to whom she was married for almost 40 years.
She was born to Edward and Mary Byers on October 24, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating in 1961 from Cleveland South High School, she went on to attend Purdue University in 1965, and graduated with a degree in Sociology. While in college, Pat’s family moved to Richfield, OH. After graduation she became a hospital Case Worker and after a year, she accepted a position in the Personnel Department for the City of Akron. She worked her way through the ranks there, eventually becoming the Selection and Recruitment Manager. While working for the city, Pat obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology at the University of Akron. Pat became highly respected in her field and in 1990, went on to establish Ramsey and Associates, a private testing company that worked with multiple Police and Fire Departments.
Through her career she established many strong relationships and great friendships. Pat was a person who treasured friendships and had an inordinate interest in people and their lives. She was quick to smile, quick to engage in conversation with almost anyone, quick to make friends, always asking a bevy of questions about their lives and their activities. She loved and was exceptionally loyal and generous to her family, friends, and acquaintances. She dearly loved her many pets and all of the birds and deer who frequented her yard daily. Needless to say she was loved in return and will be missed by many. In addition to this, Pat loved travel, cooking, meeting for lunch with friends, music, her work, and hosting her annual Christmas Eve family party.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pat is survived by her stepchildren and grandchildren, Jeff and Lori (Ramsey) Jaryga (Matt and Nick), Jim and Becky (Ramsey) Durdak (Drew and Halle), and Gavin and Betsy Ramsey. Also, she is survived by her cousin and Godchild, Kathy Drabish, her assistant and friend, April Scholz and many other friends too numerous to mention.
