Patrick J. Kennedy met God and his daughter, Anita, in heaven on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen, of nearly 43 years, and leaves four sons (Todd, wife Michelle; Gil; Javier, wife Sherri; and Joel, wife Julie), three daughters (Pilar, Maria and Bianca) and seven grandchildren to carry on his legacy of giving, service and selflessness.
Patrick was born on July 30, 1948 to Raymond Kennedy and Peggy (Flamman). His professional career and dedication to volunteerism stretches over five decades, including working as a counselor at Camp Christopher, Parmadale Home for Children and 35 years at the Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities. His service work continued after retirement in coordinating meals for Catholic Charities for seven years until he was ready for his final rest.
Patrick lived his life to the fullest in supporting his family and the community in which he played such a vital role - from coaching soccer, challenger baseball and academic activities of his children to participating in service ministries at Saint Hilary Church. He'll be remembered for a number of activities and interests, including his penchant for exterior illumination and decoration, local sports fanaticism, multitasking, biking in a number of conditions, singing (at Saint Hilary Church and in the Majestic Voice program), driving under the speed limit and an uncanny ability for memorizing names, numbers and countless other facts.
Services will be held at Saint Hilary Church, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn 44333 on Thursday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m., with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery afterwards. Friends and family are invited to spend time remembering Patrick at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Wednesday, January 25 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Friends of Camp Christopher (PO Box 13814, Fairlawn, OH 44334 or online) or to a benevolent fund account (under Gretchen Kennedy) to benefit the care of his daughters, Maria and Bianca, at Fifth Third Bank.
