Surrounded by his loving family, Patrick Pirollo , 75, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2022. Patrick was born in Akron, Ohio on February 4, 1947, to his parents Thomas and Rose Pirollo.
Patrick had a deep love of God and his Catholic Faith. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Cuyahoga Falls where he and Shon were married 52 years ago. He received his education from the University of Akron, graduating with degrees in Spanish, Secondary Education and Accounting. He taught Spanish at Walsh Jesuit High School in 1968 and St. Paul Catholic School from 1969-1972. After 40 years as a banker, he retired from PNC and went on to work for First Merit, retiring in 2014. When he retired and was home all the time, he suddenly had an enormous craving for sweets all day. Baffled by this, as he had never done this before, I contacted one of the secretaries in his department at PNC. She told me that when he was working, all his female co-workers would bring sweets for him and place them in their cubicles. He would make the “rounds” each day and get his sweet tooth assuaged. When I confronted him with this information, he gave me his typical grin, chuckled and replied “busted!” Known as “Ice Man” in his golf league because of his cool, calm demeanor, Patrick loved the camaraderie of his golf mates for many years. While admittedly not a great golfer, he thoroughly enjoyed his time with his friends on the golf course. But the guy could putt! As one of his golf buddies said “The Ice Man, besides being a great guy, won the Good Times II Championship 3 times and shot an 87 in the League Championship Match at Turkeyfoot in 1994. He definitely had a little game at one time, as his short game offset his lack of strength!” Always the quintessential gentleman, Patrick was an extremely intelligent, strong and loving man with a great sense of humor and positive attitude. A devoted family man, Patrick loved family dinners, (Palm Sunday feasts he and Shon hosted each year) gatherings with family and friends, entertaining of any kind, the sibling Christmas Dinner held each year for over 50 years and special time with his wife, Shon. Patrick and Shon fell madly in love with one another from their first date in 1968, marrying on October 25, 1969. Patrick had a great sense of humor with a sharp, quick wit that could easily be missed if you weren’t listening. He was always at the ready with a twinkle in his eye and a quick quip to make sure you were paying attention! He was a wonderful and loyal husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. His loving, kind, caring and calm demeanor always put people at ease. He will be deeply missed but always fondly remembered by anyone who knew him.
Preceded in death by his Mother, Rose, Grandparents Biagio and Concetta Conte, Maria Gracia and Pasquale Pirollo, Mother and Father-in-law, Geri and Al Pallone, sisters-in-law, Patti Cardina and Debbie Pallone, nephew Seth Pallone, he is survived by his Father, Thomas, devoted wife of 52 years, Shon (Shonda), brother, Martin (Judi), sisters, Marie (Frank) Bevilacqua, Jane (Tom) Webb, siblings-in-law, Philip (Cheri) Pallone, Ft. Collins, CO, Mary (Russ) Thornton, Anthony Cardina, Sue (Randall) Knight, Mark, Tom, Jeff (Colleen) Pallone, Caroline (Anthony) Kovacic and Daniel Pallone. He was blessed with a multitude of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who always gave him great joy.
